This is a quick call to action post for those of you who like a photography tip or two...!
Today is 21 June, the longest day in the northern hemisphere, where in the UK it's still light until a bit before 10pm if it's been a cloudless evening. These long hours of daylight are my favourite thing about Midsummer, and all this light available is a godsend to all photographers, both professional and amateur. I often read how bloggers are so relieved when spring rolls around because it makes taking outfit photos so much easier, and I'm no exception...!
(Apologies to those in the southern hemisphere where the days are now shorter - you might want to Pin this post to revisit in six months' time!)
In November I wrote a Photo Tips Friday post called Create Professional Looking Product Photos With (almost) No Equipment where I explained how to photograph your accessories with a lovely crisp white background (no studio or Photoshop required). This post is simply to say that NOW is the best time to photograph all your shoes, accessories and beauty products in preparation for the year ahead as you've got so much more daylight!
Make use of all the extra daylight you have at your disposal, so get as much as you can documented for future posts, selling on eBay, selling on Etsy - even for future Instagram posts for items featured by themselves, or as a composite image.
Using the tips from this post, I've started myself by photographing some of my own favourite accessories, like these:
Wool covered Asos heels, as worn here, here and here. And here ;)
Gold statement necklace, as worn here (no longer available unfortunately, but you may like this one in rose gold)
Accessorize colour blocked crossover bag, as seen here, here and here
So to achieve the plain white background on these items, all you need is a roll of white paper, a tripod (makeshift will do), and plenty of daylight. To remind yourself how or to see the post for the first time, go to:
