So Saturday 29th September was my 40th birthday party... two whole months after the birthday itself, and finally here are the pictures to prove it! (Everyone was on holiday at different times around my birthday and August/September, so I picked a date when most people could make it.)

Not up to our usual quality of outfit post photography I'm afraid - but considering the state of both photographer and model by this point (this being right at the end of the evening - the room was almost cleared away), it isn't actually that bad ;)

With my lovely sister (and BFF) Vickie

I'd had a few drinks by this point...

Matthew can't believe I've really included a picture of him ;)

This is my gang - my closest friends! All very sober, of course.
Would you believe it - the last remaining few who stayed and danced till the better end were all us oldies in our 40s (see above)...! It was a great night - a small function room in a country pub with a DJ playing my favourite cheesy disco tracks all evening. I couldn't have asked for anything more!
And just to show you my dress DIY: this was a vintage C&A (remember them?) dress I bought off eBay earlier this year. Stupidly I didn't take the dress up until THE AFTERNOON OF THE PARTY. Yes, you read that right, that afternoon... why do I do it to myself?! I'd had about five months to do it and just kept putting it off and putting it off... as you can imagine I was having a slight panic. It worked out fine thankfully, and as I'd originally been debating whether to keep it as a maxi I'm now so glad I did shorten it.

Hope you liked the dress and thanks for bearing with me while I showed my party pics - any excuse to embarrass my friends is a good one!
